The Bronx-born, Norfolk-raised rapper Pusha T (Terrence Thornton) gained much fame and notice in the music industry as half of the rap duo Clipse, alongside his brother Malice (Gene Thornton). Now it is 2011 and Pusha T is rolling solo, signing up with Kanye West’s prestigious GOOD Music management, alongside great acts such as Common, John Legend, and the up-and-coming Big Sean. On March 21, 2011 Pusha T released his first solo mixtape Fear of God.

Plies has dropped another mixtape, I F*ck With the DJ, for the “goons” out there. This mixtape may not reach mainstream success, but from what I am seeing it is a hit in smaller cities. Plies sticks to his raw, thug style with this mixtape. He talks about hustling, flashing, and of course a little nasty time. I would not recommend this mixtape for children under 18.

On March 11, 2011, Miller released the highly anticipated mixtape Best Day Ever. Mellow rhythms, smooth transitions, and slick wordplay made this mixtape worth the wait. Hip hop has been prescribed a great versatile rapper and Mac Miller may be the one to fill that prescription.
