Prince Hates Digital Music And Refuses To Sell His Songs Online
The Purple one himself, Prince, admitted that he hates digital music and remains adamantly against the Internet.
Prince, 53, has consistently been a critic of the worldwide web and refuses to allow his back catalog to be sold digitally online by retail outlets such as Amazon and Apple’s iTunes store.
Prince recently revealed why he detests the digital format, better known as music downloads.
Prince told the Guardian:
“I personally can’t stand digital music. You’re getting sound in bits.
“It affects a different place in your brain. When you play it back, you can’t feel anything. We’re analogue people, not digital.”
He adds:
“I’m supposed to go to the White House to talk about copyright protection. It’s like the gold rush out there. Or a carjacking. There’s no boundaries.”
For years Prince has made his point by taking extreme measures to prevent the use of his music or images online, having all of his music videos removed from YouTube.
Prince also shut down the persistent rumors that he is to headline Glastonbury Festival.
He said:
“They use my name to sell the festival. It’s illegal. I’ve never spoken to anyone about doing that concert, ever.”
However, Prince will headline this year’s Hop Farm Music Festival in Kent on July 3. This is no lie and tickets for the event are on sale now.
