Diddy tops Forbes Wealthiest in hip hop list!
Diddy may have started out as an intern back in the day, but he has built an empire known as Bad Boy Records, He has also topped the list of Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists once again. It’s the fourth year running for Diddy as he out does Jay-Z once again for moneymaking moguls. The two power houses of New York seem to have a lock on the list over the past several years, but there are others on the Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest list.
Diddy has stayed a consistent contender on the list, claiming the No.1 spot with $475 million, with Jay-Z coming at a close No.2 with $450 million. Then there’s a drastic drop to third with Dr. Dre holding it down at $125 million, 50 Cent at No. 4 with a $100 million and last, the guys who brag the most and have the least, Cash Money CEO Birdman grabbing the No. 5 spot with around $100 million.

Additionally, Jay-Z has made an appearance on Forbes’ lists for four years in a row, with earnings of $63 million last year, in addition to the No. 1 spot for Top Earning Celebrity Couples, with wife Beyonce. Remember, also, Jay-Z was named one of Forbes Richest Black Americans.
However, Diddy’s colossal earnings are attributed to his stakes in Bad Boy Worldwide Records, Sean John Clothing, and his joint business deal with Ciroc vodka. It’s the empire we’ve spoke about previously that Diddy aka Sean Combs grew from the ground up, all within the past 18 years.
Jay-Z attributes his success to his endeavors in fashion and food, in addition, to personal musical success, and his Roc Nation label.
Forbes says they picked the list by “valuing current holdings, looking at past earnings, leafing through financial documents and talking to a bevy of analysts, attorneys, managers and other industry players to find the nitty-gritty details.”
And to make this clear – only performers were eligible for the list, which was kept at a 5-person minimum due to the lack of financial information on rappers earning less than $100 million. Forbes also released an updated list of the world’s billionaires as well.
