Exclusive Interviews With Rodney Perry And Shannon Kane Of Madea’s Big Happy Family

Thursday, April 21, 2011 · No Comments

Rodney Perry [of BET's The Mo'Nique Show] plays Harold in Madea’s Big Happy Family, which opens wide in theaters Friday, April 22.

Perry is an American comedian, actor and writer. He provides laughs alongside comedienne Mo’Nique five nights a week.

GBC got a quick snippet from Rodney, who I have to say, was one of the coolest cats on the carpet. I really enjoyed speaking with him. Rodney has an upcoming comedy show that you’re not gonna wanna miss, don’t take it from me, listen to Rodney…

You can see more Rodney Perry on-screen soon. He told me exclusively that he’s wrapped on The Last Laugh, which is due out later this year. He can also be seen in the film Chicago Pulaski Jones.

Shannon Kane plays Kimberly in Madea’s Big Happy Family, the daughter with a secret. Kimberly is slightly bitter and is embarrassed by her family – there is lots of resentment coming from Kimberly in the movie. However, you may remember Shannon as Chantel in Antoine Fuqua’s Brooklyn’s Finest.

Shannon is nothing like the wicked character in the film, she was a pleasure to speak with on the carpet, and stunning in person. I’m glad I had a chance to meet Shannon, because her character in Madea’s Big Happy Family truly pissed me off.

Shannon Kane is currently working on her next project The Collection directed by Marcus Dunstan and starring Christopher McDonald, Josh Stewart and Lee Tergesen. It’s slated for release late 2011.

Lee Meriwether’s Exclusive Interview With Gigi Roads At WonderCon

Thursday, April 14, 2011 · No Comments

Hello from Gigi Roads…I want to share with you an interview with the lovely Lee Meriwether.

She was at the San Francisco Wondercon event.

You may remember her from Barnaby Jones when she was his partner in the crime-solving series, which was one of her favorite roles.

Lee Meriwether was very endearing when she spoke of how she enjoyed working opposite Buddy Epson in the ’70s. Many of you may know her as Catwoman, Lily Munster, Ruth Martin in All My Children and more.

She is such a classy lady and had a wonderful presence when I asked her about her roles and advice to other actresses today.

Lee is still going strong and doing a one woman show, touring colleges around the country. Here is what she had to say about the one woman show that’s causing a buzz.

Meriwether explains why people should come by, stating:

“It’s American literature that you don’t get to see performed very often. It’s a golden opportunity…I think people will be able to relate to these women. There’s rape, murder, love, happiness, nurturing and not.”

Meriwether’s one-woman show is an adaptation of a collection of 28 women/characters from Spoon River Anthology. The event, which is on May 7 and 8, is titled “An Evening with Lee Meriwether,” and the first act will feature the women from Spoon River and for the second act she will answer questions from the audience. Lee performed at the Woodbury College in Burbank.

SIC VIDS: The Lonely Island Premieres “We’re Back!”

Wednesday, April 13, 2011 · No Comments

The Lonely Island have reemerged with a new video for the hilariously raunchy track “We’re Back!”

The video follows Andy, Jorma and Akiva as they rap about their penises. It’s shot in stylized black and white on the streets of New York, which give it a truly authentic hip hop feel. And their flow is reminiscent of the Beastie Boys on “So What’cha Want.” It’s only when you pay attention to the lyrics that you realize the trio are trying to make you keel over with laughter.

Anaya Daffe’s Exclusive Spotlight Interview With GBC

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 · 1 Comment

We had the pleasure of sitting down for an exclusive one on one with Anaya Daffè for our GBC spotlight interview.

We put Anaya Daffè in the GBC spotlight to talk about where she is from, who are her influences and her message to the youth of today. Anaya discussed with GBC how music has been a huge part of her life and how she knew that r&b was her outlet. And let me tell you, Anaya is amazing!

Anaya Daffe talks about her inspiration for the song “Life Without You.”

Anaya elaborates that everything that comes easy isn’t always good. Through hard work, hard times and drive you can accomplish your dreams. She is living proof that you can overcome anything. It has led her to be the woman and artist that she is today.

Anaya has been described as being capable of taking her “vocal attributes from tha block to the booth with ease.”

I have to agree that the description is certainly an accurate one. Anaya says that it’s no secret that she is the sum of her experiences and she makes no apologies for that fact.

Anaya Daffè is humble, sexy and one artist that never forgets – she continues to honor the memory of her loved ones who were not as fortunate. Check her exclusive interview with GBC of GBCWow.com on the flip side…
