R. Kelly Undergoes Emergency Throat Surgery
R. Kelly was reportedly rushed to a Chicago, Illinois hospital to having emergency surgery yesterday [July 19th] to drain an abscess on his tonsils.
The r&b crooner is currently in the hospital this morning, recovering form yesterday’s emergency throat surgery.
According to MyFoxChicago, the Chicago, Illinois crooner entered the hospital for the procedure, though there is no further information regarding his current condition.
Kellz recently wrapped up a 46-day U.S. tour with Keyshia Cole and Marsha Ambrosius. Last week, he tweeted that he was having trouble with his throat and wasn’t feeling well, explaining that he felt like “my throat is coming back” and that he was in bed “sweating like crazy.”
A representative for R. Kelly has released an official statement regarding Kelly’s hospitalization to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils.
The rep said:
“R&B superstar R. Kelly will be laid up for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing an emergency procedure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital yesterday to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils,” read the release. “Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain. Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure. It is not known when the multiplatinum recording star, who just completed the U.S. leg of his worldwide Love Letter Tour, will be able to resume performing.”
