The Source magazine has been going through many changes over the past few years. Mediatakeout has been breaking the story as it develops, but as we have done some research ourselves we got some background on the whole thing for you. Just like it’s competitor west coast version Rap Pages Magazine which was put on the auction block in 2002 and sold, now only to be found on line.

The Source has been struggling to stay a float over the last two years. They were bought out last year and all of The Source’s staff let go. The magazine the has so much conflict following it.   Advertisers started pulling out 2 years ago…Magazine’s cannot survive without advertisers..That is the problem with Rap magazines today.

In discussion, we have learned that more and more you will start seeing hip hop magazine’s going to online only as it is more cost effective over-all.

AllHipHop, SixShot, HipHopDX and YoRaps! have proven that over the past years as they are the new breed of hip hop magazines.

Our long standing XXL, Vibe and Complex are still available on newstands, but changes are needed for a older magazine that have been around for 20 years such as The Source and Rap Pages.

Reinvent.

Keeping with the same theme and the same content only staggers these magazines as they both are struggling to stay in the game.
